Epic Response to Bob Costas

Alex the chick is pretty plucky.

Jib Status: Enjoying the cut of it.

First, before we wade into the idiocy that is Bob Costas (who?) let me just say this: gun control is an emotional issue, not a logical one. The people that believe murder would end if guns are controlled probably believe that war is never the answer.

The cold reality of, well, reality is that violence and war are sometimes the only answer.

Force, implied or practiced is sometimes the only moral answer.

Consider slavery. Are we seriously to be believe that the Civil War, with its great and noble goal was not the answer to the question of human bondage? We might be ashamed that war had to be used to convince the Democrats that property rights don’t extend to people, but that shame should be carried by those proudly flying the Confederate flag, not those who fought and died to remove it from Southern capitals.

Also consider that pacifism is inherently immoral. There is no honor in choosing not to defend yourself, your family, or those that can not provide for their own defense. Anyone reading this would fight to save a kitten in harms way, let alone a person. Pacifism is a bumper sticker designed to end the responsibility of further thought, not a world view.

But let’s get on to Bob Costas (who?). Apparently he chose to extoll the evils of hand guns when talking about the murder/suicide committed by Jovan Belcher, an NFL employee.

Alex says it best:

Gentlemen: I see that you have chosen to use the horrific crime of the murder of Kasandra Perkins to express your belief that guns are the problem, not the men who wield them. I am utterly certain that you believe that you have the moral high ground on this matter. I am equally certain that such a belief is appallingly wrong, not to mention terribly misogynistic. Why do I say this? Because had your desires on gun control been in place, I would not be alive to be writing this now.
